European Exploration and Settlement Lesson Content

Geographic Factors Influenced European Exploration and Settlement Lesson Content

The NYS 7th grade social studies curriculum contains the Unit 2: European Exploration and Colonization of the Americas. The second section of that unit focuses on the Geographic Factors Influenced European Exploration and Settlement of North and South America. I have followed the curriculum and have produced a social studies differentiated instruction lesson plan on the Geographic Factors Influenced European Exploration and Settlement of the Americas. It contains the following content:

1. Effects of weather and natural hazards on the Atlantic crossings

2. Characteristics of different physical environments in the Americas and where different Europeans settled

3. The development of “New England,” “New France,” “New Netherland,” and “New Spain”

I put all of this content in a beautiful PowerPoint with a lot of visuals. The content is easy to understand. The notes can also be found in the lesson plan under the note section.
